Meeting Minutes

Location: Spain Restaurant, Newark, N.J.
NY Chapter of ANTA organized wonderful gathering of ANTA members and other Teraians on July 1st, 2006 in Newark, NJ. The highlight of the evening was to recognize and extend honor to two(2) internationally renowned personalities from Terai. Dr. Upendra Mahato (current President of ICC-NRNA and successful international businessman based in Russia) and Mr. Aditya Jha (an IT entrepreneur and successful businessman based in Canada) were given certificate of Honorary Member of ANTA. Mr. Jiba Lamichhane, another successful businessman based in Russia, was also recognized on this occasion. After delicious food, great speeches and fun-filled evening, discussions were held on several issues related to ANTA. The session was moderated by Dr. Biplav Yadav. Following key items were discussed during that meeting.
- ANTA Membership Fee
- It was agreed that ANTA membership will not be denied to any person who can not afford the membership fee. Person interested in becoming ANTA member but not able to afford the fee shall still have to complete the membership form and send to the responsible ANTA officer. The completed membership form shall clearly state that he/she is unable to pay the membership fee.
- This information regarding membership will be posted on ANTA web-site.The membership form may also be revised to include this change.
- During the ANTA convention in NY 2006, Dr. Surendra Mahto (ANTA life member and successful businessman from Terai) pledged to cover the membership fee for those individuals who can not afford the membership fee up to the amount of $20.00 (individual membership due) for each person. We thank him for his generous pledge.
- Monthly News letter and Update
- It was suggested that a monthly newsletter or update regarding ANTA activities should be sent to ANTA members. The newsletter or update shall be posted on ANTA website as well. The ANTA president or the person assigned by the president shall send these updates.
- ANTA Skill Directory
- ANTA will encourage its member to use its web-site to write brief personal/professional profile which may be helpful to the other teraians living in US or abroad. “ANTA Directory” on www.terai.org shall be used for this purpose.
- Election of the ANTA officers and its executive Members:
- Formal election of the ANTA executive members will be held as per the ANTA bylaws. It is anticipated that the election process will be completed by the upcoming ANMA/NASeA convention in Chicago (September 1st through 4th, 2006). The election results will be announced during ANTA gathering in Chicago. The election for all positions will be open. Mr. Mukesh Singh (ANTA Secretary) will be responsible for carrying out the proceedings for the election. Necessary information and instruction will be sent out by Mr. Singh shortly.
- ANTA Membership Committee :
- Dr. Binod Shah of NY will be the Chairman of the ANTA membership committee. His responsibility will be to lead the effort to recruit new ANTA members and expand ANTA. Following names were suggested for the member of this committee:
- Dr. Satya Yadav
- Aniket Shah
- Raghbendra Dubedi
- Someone from Mid-West Region
- Someone from West Region
- Jay Mandal (Vice president of ANTA )
