With due thanks to its donors and well-wishers, ANTA has hit the ground running with its relief work in the areas devastated by Covid. Last week ANTA distributed 1000 free meals and provided the PPE kits to the medical staff at the Bheri Regional Hospital in Nepalgunj which is facing the brunt of Covid-19 in Nepal.

Currently, the hospital has 300 plus Covid patients - most of them are extremely poor and are not in a position to afford any private hospitals and facilities. The entry charge to the hospital is free but any other costs such as food and medicine need to be borne by the patient’s family. Separately, the doctors and medical staff don’t have adequate access to the PPEs (Personal Protection Equipment) and they end up reusing them for several days. The PPEs kits distributed by ANTA included masks, gowns, goggles, face shields, gloves, etc. The medical staff of this regional hospital is catering to Banke, Bardia, Surkhet, Dang including many districts of Pradesh-5 and 6, all heavily infected by Covid.

Many thanks to Mr. Chandreshwar Raj Tripathi, the President of the Nepal Awadhi Patrakar Sangh (Nepal) for facilitating the logistics of this initiative.

ANTA is actively working with its local partners to provide assistance to various parts of Terai. The needs are enormous and every dollar matters. Please contribute through the ANTA Covid Fundraiser if you have not done so.
